camp: HOPE FULL 2026 FAQ

It’s a big weekend and we know you have a lot of questions!

Additionally, we will have our CAMP QUICK LINKS (link coming soon) that we recommend you save on your phone for easy access all weekend long!

If you still have questions – let us know! We are here to help!

Camp: HOPE FULL is the largest annual fundraiser for The Apricity Hope Project, a Hampton Roads–based nonprofit that supports caregivers of medically complex and disabled children.

We believe that if we want children to be cared for well, we must also care for their parents.

Funds raised during this weekend directly support:

• Restorative retreats at The Apricity Hideaway
• Hope Mail (care packages for hospital caregivers)
• PICU & NICU Go Bags
• The When Autumn Comes podcast
• Year-round caregiver connection and support

The Apricity Hope Project also continues the Geoghegan family’s advocacy and fundraising efforts for mitochondrial disease research.

This weekend isn’t just camping.
It’s community-powered care.

Learn more about our mission, founder, and impact here.

Our 2026 theme is inspired by classic 80s camp energy — think colorful, comfy, nostalgic, and a little chaotic.

If you grew up with Fraggle Rock, you already understand the vibe:

🌈 Bright colors
🌈 Rainbows
🌈 Mixed patterns
🌈 Oversized sweatshirts
🌈 Retro windbreakers
🌈 Playful, joyful, slightly goofy camp magic

Our unofficial motto this year?

“Camp your cares away — worries for another day.”

What do you do with the theme?

Lean in as much — or as little — as you’d like.

✨ Plan an 80s-inspired outfit for the HOPE FULL Concert on Saturday (Best Dressed Award 👀)
✨ Decorate your campsite
✨ Decorate your cabin
✨ Bring rainbow energy
✨ Go full retro chaos

We’ll be awarding:
🏆 Best Dressed (Concert)
🏆 Best Decorated Campsite
🏆 Best Decorated Cabin

And of course… neon green.

Camp: HOPE FULL is always rocking neon green in honor of our connection to mitochondrial disease awareness.

Neon green represents the children who inspire this weekend — and the mission that fuels it.

So if 80s retro isn’t your thing?
Just bring the green 💚

Participation is completely optional — but creativity is highly encouraged.

Guests without a ticket may not participate in crafts, included meals, or scheduled activities.

However, anyone is welcome to support the mission by:

Camp: HOPE FULL is a fundraiser, and ticket purchases directly support caregiver programming all year long.

Pets

Yes — pets are welcome according to campground rules.

Please ensure your pet:
• Is leashed at all times
• Is friendly and comfortable around children
• Is supervised at all times

Many children attending have medical complexities and sensitivities, so we ask everyone to be mindful and respectful of shared space.

Camp: HOPE FULL serves many families whose children are medically complex and immunocompromised.

Because this is primarily an outdoor event, masks are not required.

However, we ask all attendees to use thoughtful discretion:

• If you are feeling sick, please stay home.
• Practice good hand hygiene.
• Be respectful of personal space.

Some families may choose to mask, avoid close contact, or keep distance — and we fully support that.

At Camp: HOPE FULL, we lead with kindness and consideration for one another.

Absolutely 💚

Camp: HOPE FULL is the largest annual fundraiser for The Apricity Hope Project, and you do not need to attend to make an impact.

To make a donation:

  1. Click the “Tickets + Passes” button on our website.
  2. Select “I Would Just Like to Donate.”
  3. Enter your donation amount and complete checkout.

You can also support by:

Every dollar raised helps fund:
• Caregiver retreats
• Care(Giver) Packages
• Hospital go-bags
• Mitochondrial Disease Research and Awareness

Even if you can’t camp with us, you can still stand with us.

Yes! 💚

Our silent auction is both online and in-person, and you do not need to attend Camp: HOPE FULL to bid or win.

🗓 Auction Opens: Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 5:00 PM
🗓 Auction Closes: Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 4:30 PM

All bidding takes place online, so anyone can participate from anywhere.

If you win an item and are not attending camp, you will need to arrange local pickup in Suffolk or Norfolk within 7 days of auction close.

We provide almost everything you’ll need for Camp: HOPE FULL crafts and activities — just come ready to create 💚

The one exception:

🎨 Tie-Dye
Please bring a white (or light-colored) shirt to dye.
OR
Pre-order a Camp: HOPE FULL shirt in advance and it will be waiting for you at check-in.

We also recommend bringing:

• Camp chairs or blankets for seating
• Umbrellas or shade coverage for daytime activities
• Layers (March evenings can be chilly)
• Sunscreen

Day Campers

If you are attending with a Saturday Day Pass, you are welcome to bring an EZ-Up tent or large umbrella to create a comfortable home base in our event area for the day.

Set up shade. Get cozy. Stay awhile.

If you or your child use adaptive tools for crafting or seating, please feel free to bring whatever works best for you.

🎤 Friday Night (March 20 | 6–8PM)

Join us near Camp HQ (Campsite 38 area) for:

• Firepit
• S’mores
• Campsite Karaoke

Weather and wind permitting, we’ll gather outdoors for a cozy kickoff night to start the weekend together.

🎶 Saturday HOPE FULL Concert

March 21 | 2–4PM

We’re thrilled to welcome back everyone’s favorite 80s cover band — The Deloreans!

Yes. Break out the neon.
Yes. Big hair encouraged.

✨ Important Update for 2026:
In previous years, our concert has taken place in the evening. To better accommodate families with young children and medically complex needs, we’ve moved the concert to the afternoon this year.

📍 HOPE FULL Concert Location

The Saturday concert will take place at the campground’s outdoor movie area, near our main Camp: HOPE FULL event space.

This is new for 2026 — in past years, we’ve used the back pavilion. This year (weather permitting), we’ll be outdoors and closer to all activities.

🌧 Rain Plan:
If weather becomes an issue, the entire Camp: HOPE FULL event — including the concert — will move to the pavilion in the back of the campground.

We’ll communicate any weather-related changes clearly and promptly.

Absolutely! BYOB and BYOS (bring your own snackies).

This is your weekend 💚

You are never required to participate in every activity. Join what feels fun. Skip what doesn’t. Rest when you need to.

Camp: HOPE FULL is designed to be flexible — especially for families navigating medical schedules, energy levels, and unpredictability.

You are welcome to:
• Come and go throughout the weekend
• Take breaks at your campsite or cabin
• Leave and return as needed
• Enjoy campground amenities like the covered pool, dog park, playgrounds, and putt-putt

There is no “right” way to do camp.

Show up. Wander. Craft. Sit by the fire. Take a nap. Repeat.

Saturday night’s dinner will be burrito bowls provided by Hackers Bar & Grille 🌯

We’ll have:
• Protein options
• A variety of burrito bowl toppings
• Build-your-own flexibility

✨ Important: This is a pre-order only meal.

Dinner must be purchased in advance for $15 per person. We will not have additional meals available for purchase onsite.

Pre-ordering helps us:
• Plan accurate quantities
• Reduce food waste
• Keep ticket prices lower

If you did not pre-order dinner, you are welcome to bring your own meal or explore local options.

Dress comfortably — this is camp, not couture 💚

It’s March in Virginia Beach, so layers are your best friend. Be prepared for sunshine, wind, cooler evenings, and the possibility of rain.

We recommend:
• Comfortable clothes
• Sneakers or closed-toe shoes
• Layers (flannels, hoodies, windbreakers)
• A rain jacket, just in case

🎶 Concert + Camp Theme Vibes

This year’s vibe is inspired by classic 80s camp energy — think Fraggle Rock, not nightclub.

Colorful. Playful. A little nostalgic. A little chaotic.

Bright colors, mixed patterns, vintage camp tees, leg warmers, oversized sweatshirts — all welcome.

If it looks like you could “dance your cares away” in it… you’re doing it right.

Dressing up is completely optional — but we will be giving a small prize for best dressed 👀

Camp casual is always correct. Campy 80s magic just makes it more fun.

We have merch for sale this year! Check out our teal tent for all of the shirts and swag we have available! If we do not have your size, you can order it and have it shipped directly to your home!

Send an email to hello@apricityhope.org and we will get back with you ASAP. Please keep in mind that the weeks before camp is a bit hectic and we are trying to respond to everyone. We cannot wait to camp with you this weekend!

Your ticket is digital. You should have received a confirmation email but if you cannot find it – it’s okay! We should have your name in our system. Come to our AHP Headquarters Tent (It’s a green EZ up tent on RV site 38) and we will give you your camp welcome packet, bracelets and everything else you need for the weekend.
